1. Explore Opportunities on SAIRA

SEARCH: WAITRO partners identify project ideas or challenges….

After your registration and login, you will be directed to an overview of SAIRA’s opportunities. Opportunities are project ideas or challenges posted by other RTOs (see 3.1 & 3.2), by companies (4.) or start-ups (5). You can explore all opportunities posted by RTOs by clicking on RESEARCH COLLABORATION in the top, all opportunities posted by companies by clicking on INDUSTRIAL CHALLENGES and all opportunities posted by start-ups by clicking on START-UP CHALLENGES. If you find an opportunity interesting you can click on SHOW OPPORTUNITY to learn more about it.

When you click on SHOW OPPORTUNITY you will be taken to the page of the project idea or challenge. There you will find details of the project idea or challenge such as a problem statement, a clear description of the desired approach and clear deliverables for the project collaboration. An indication of how much funding is secured for the project is also provided. If you have an interesting technology or expertise in the area of the project, and want to collaborate with the project owner to achieve the planned outcomes, you can submit a proposal. You can do this by clicking on DRAFT A PROPOSAL (see 2).

2. Draft a Proposal

SUBMIT: WAITRO partners […] express interest in collaborating by submitting a proposal…

  • Click on DRAFT A PROPOSAL (+)
  • Insert the following information on your proposal:
  1. Choose an acronym for your proposal (max. 24 characters)
  2. Give your proposal a catchy name 
  3. Describe your possible contribution to the project and/or propose a solution for the stated problem (max. 300. words / max. 2000 characters)
  4. State your expertise, competences and experience relevant to the project idea (max. 300 words / max. 2000 characters)
  5. Please describe the unique selling point of your contribution or solution (max. 250 words / max. 1500 characters)
  6. Please state questions or additional remarks (max. 250 words / max. 1500 characters)
  • Click on OK (safe) and proceed (you can also always come back and work on it before submitting your proposal)
  • Choose the drafted proposal in your dashboard by clicking on SHOW PROPOSAL 
  • Read the Submission Rules carefully and SUBMIT PROPOSAL  
  • Congratulations! Your proposal will be visible to the publisher of the project idea or challenge.

3. Create a top-down Research Collaboration

DEFINE & CREATE: WAITRO researcher identifies funding opportunity for research project and creates top-down R&D project on SAIRA…

  • Click on Research Collaborations (DASHBOARD/left Sidebar)
  • Click on CREATE A TOP-DOWN R&D PROJECT (+)
  • Insert the following information on your project idea:
  1. Choose an acronym for your project idea (max. 24 characters)
  2. Give your project a catchy name 
  3. Select a research area 
  4. Select a country (target country)
  5. Define a problem statement (max. 300. words / max. 2000 characters)
  6. Describe your project idea and explain a potential approach to solve the stated problem (max. 300. words / max.  2000 characters)
  7. Describe the expected outcome or impact of your project (max. 300 words / max. 2000 characters)
  8. What is your partners profile (max. 250 words / max. 1500 characters)
  9. Refer to the prior identified funding opportunity and the foreseen project budget (max. 150 words / max. 1000 characters)
  10. Set a deadline for proposals 
  11. Add a picture (Please add a logo or picture representing your top-down project. Pay attention to not accidentally infringing copyrights by using graphics or photos for your project profile).
  • Click on OK (safe) and proceed (you can also always come back and work on it before publishing  your project idea)
  • Choose the created project in your dashboard by clicking on SHOW PROJECT
  • Read the Submission Rules carefully and PUBLISH your project idea
  • Congratulations! Your project idea will be visible for logged-in WAITRO researchers.

4. Create a bottom-up Research Collaboration

DEFINE & CREATE: WAITRO researcher defines challenge or develops project idea and creates a bottom-up R&D project on SAIRA, independent of funding opportunities…

  • Click on Research Collaborations (DASHBOARD/left Sidebar)
  • Click on CREATE A BOTTOM-UP R&D PROJECT (+)
  • Insert the following information on your project idea:
  1. Choose an acronym for your project idea (max. 24 characters)
  2. Give your project a catchy name 
  3. Select a research area 
  4. Select a country (target country)
  5. Define a problem statement (max. 300. words / max. 2000 characters)
  6. Describe your project idea and explain a potential approach to solve the stated problem (max. 300. words / max. 2000 characters)
  7. Describe the expected outcome or impact of your project (max. 300 words / max. 2000 characters)
  8. Refer to specific conditions and technical specifications (max. 250 words / max. 1500 characters)
  9. Refer to potential funding opportunities and the foreseen project budget (max. 150 words / max. 1000 characters)
  10. Set a deadline for proposals 
  11. Add a picture (Please add a logo or picture representing your bottom-up project. Pay attention to not accidentally infringing copyrights by using graphics or photos for your project profile).
  • Click on OK (safe) and proceed (you can also always come back and work on it before publishing  your project idea)
  • Choose the created project in your dashboard by clicking on SHOW PROJECT
  • Read the Submission Rules carefully and PUBLISH your project idea
  • Congratulations! Your project idea will be visible for logged-in WAITRO researchers.

5. Create an Industrial Challenge

DEFINE & CREATE: Solution seeking company identifies and defines internal needs and creates an Industrial Challenge on SAIRA…
  • Click on CREATE AN INDUSTRIAL CHALLENGE (+)
  • Insert the following information on your challenge:
  1. Choose an acronym for your challenge (max. 24 characters)
  2. Give your challenge a catchy name 
  3. Select a research area 
  4. Select a country (target country)
  5. Define a problem statement and describe your challenge (max. 300. words / max. 2000 characters)
  6. Describe potential approaches to addressing the challenge. Are there any solutions already implemented? (max. 300. words / max. 2000 characters)
  7. Describe the expected outcome and state the objectives of a successful problem solving process (max. 300 words / max. 2000 characters)
  8. Refer to available funding and the foreseen budget (max. 150 words / max. 1000 characters)
  9. Set a deadline for proposals 
  10. Add a picture (Please add a logo or picture representing your bottom-up project. Pay attention to not accidentally infringing copyrights by using graphics or photos for your project profile).
  • Click on OK (safe) and proceed (you can also always come back and work on it before publishing  your project idea)
  • Choose the created project in your dashboard by clicking on SHOW PROJECT
  • Read the Submission Rules carefully and PUBLISH your Industrial Challenge
  • Congratulations! Your challenge will be visible for logged-in WAITRO researchers (Problem Solvers)

6. Create a Start-Up Challenge

DEFINE & CREATE: Solution seeking start-up identifies specific needs to implement or scale a business idea and creates a Start-Up Challenge on SAIRA…

  • Click on CREATE A START-UP CHALLENGE (+)
  • Insert the following information on your challenge:
  1. Choose an acronym for your project idea (max. 24 characters)
  2. Give your project a catchy name 
  3. Select a research area 
  4. Select a country (target country)
  5. Define a problem statement and describe your challenge  (max. 300. words / max. 2000 characters)
  6. Please describe your business idea and its current stage of development to addressing the challenge. Are there any solutions already implemented? (max. 300. words / max. 2000 characters)
  7. Please describe challenge and your needs for technological know-how and expertise in R&D (max. 300 words / max. 2000 characters)
  8. Refer to available or potential funding and the foreseen budget (max. 150 words / max. 1000 characters)
  9. Set a deadline for proposals 
  10. Add a picture (Please add a logo or picture representing your bottom-up project. Pay attention to not accidentally infringing copyrights by using graphics or photos for your project profile).
  • Click on OK (safe) and proceed (you can also always come back and work on it before publishing  your project idea)
  • Choose the created project in your dashboard by clicking on SHOW PROJECT
  • Read the Submission Rules carefully and PUBLISH your Start-Up Challenge
