1. SAIRA’s aim

SAIRA aims to enable collaboration between different parties who want to implement research-oriented projects that help achieve the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.

2. Registration

Anybody who works at an organization that is looking for partners to collaborate with can register for SAIRA, as well as any party who wants to act as partner.

3. Organization types

During the registration process, you have to choose the type of organization you work for in a drop-down menu. You should choose the type that best describes your organization. When you publish an Opportunity, your organization type will be visible on your Opportunity.

4. Visibility

When uploading Opportunities, you can choose who can see them. Likewise, you will only be able see those opportunities that are visible to you, based on the organization type that you chose during the registration process.

The different types of visibility are:

 WHO SHOULD SEE THIS OPPORTUNITY?

  • All logged-in users and visitors of the public page:

    • Opportunity details will not be displayed on the public page.
    • All visitors of the public page will only see the following information: NAME and ORGANIZATION, TITLE OF OPPORTUNITY, LOOKING FOR [organizational type(s)], FROM [region(s), country(ies)], RESEARCH AREA(S), SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOAL(S). All logged-in users have full visibility.
  • Only logged-in users

  • Only logged-in users from chosen organizational types FROM THE CHOSEN ORGANIZATIONAL TYPE(S) from the chosen region(s)/country(ies):

    • Please note that if you limit the visibility of your opportunity, selected information will be displayed on the public page: LOOKING FOR [organizational type(s)], FROM [region(s), country(ies)], RESEARCH AREA(S), SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOAL(S). Your name, the title of your opportunity, and the abstract will not be visible on the public page.

5. Create und Publish Opportunities

If you have a project idea or are looking for partners for a consortium (for Horizon Europe e.g.) you can easily upload an Opportunity on SAIRA in 5 steps:

For all steps, please notice that all information is mandatory unless it is indicated otherwise.

6. Provide an Overview of your Opportunity

In this step, you enter most of the information that will be later on the first visible information for your chosen audience.

Here, you give your Opportunity a title, shortly describe what it is about in your abstract. You then choose the research areas that your Opportunity is about, the Sustainable Development Goal(s) it is trying to tackle and a deadline. For the deadline, it is important to note that this is the deadline until when you accept proposals by other SAIRA users.

If you are looking for consortium partners for a Horizon Call, make sure to set the deadline of your Opportunity earlier than the date when the actual call closes, so you and your partners have enough time to work on your joint proposal.

1. Describe the Opportunity

In this step, you describe the exact content and details of your Opportunity. Make sure to provide enough information for potential partners, while not sharing any confidential information. You additionally have the option to specify a country focus, in case your Opportunity is targeted at a particular country or region.

2. Describe your partner

In this step, you explain what type of partner you are looking for. You describe what skills and experience you expect them to have in order to collaborate with you on your Opportunity.

Then, you can choose if you are looking for specific organizational types. This means, that you will identify here if you are looking for research and technology organizations, for SMEs, Multinationals, Investors etc.

If you do choose one or various organization types here, this information will also be on the landing page with the first visible information of your Opportunity, so potential partners can see immediately whether their organizational type matches your Opportunity.

Additionally, this will have implications on your options for the visibility of your Opportunity:

  • If you choose one or more organizational types here, these organizational types will directly be added to the last step where you can choose the visibility.
  • If you choose to make your Opportunity only visible to specific organization types (as described in 5. I)  the organizational types that you choose in this step will be added to the visibility options, so that only registered users who chose the organizational types you specified for will see your Opportunity.

Moreover, you have the option to add a region or country in case you are looking for partners from a particular region or country.

3. Add Documents and Links

In this step, you have the option to add relevant documents and/or links and give them a name, so that the recipient of the proposal directly knows what was uploaded.

4. Finalize Opportunity

In this step, you have to choose whom your Opportunity will be visible to (as explained in section 4 “Visibility”). You then have to accept the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy to publish your Opportunity. Before publishing your Opportunity, make sure that all the information provided is correct. If you don’t want to publish your Opportunity yet, you can also save the Opportunity, and finalize and publish it later. You will then find it under “Your Opportunities”.

Please note that you can save your Opportunity and publish it later during all 5 steps.

Once you have published your Opportunity, it will be visible to the audience that you chose and open top proposals. Only logged in SAIRA users will be able to submit Proposals. You will receive notifications via email and on SAIRA directly when Proposals have been submitted to your Opportunities.

6. Submit Proposal

If you have browsed open Opportunities and found the right one for you, you can submit a proposal in 4 simple steps:

Please note that your proposal will only be visible to the creator of the Opportunity and the Opportunity’s team members who you can see under Opportunity Details.

1. Provide Overview

In the first step, you give your proposal a title and briefly describe the main content of your proposal in an abstract, so that the Opportunity team can get a quick overview of your proposal.

2. Describe Details

In the second step, you describe in detail how you are planning to contribute to the Opportunity. How are you trying to support the Opportunity team in achieving their goal?

Then, you give an overview of your experience related to the Opportunity. You can mention your specific expertise and past projects that are related to the Opportunity.

3. Add Documents and Links

In the third step, you have the option to add relevant documents and/or links.

4. Finalize Proposal

In the last step, you check all information provided in your proposal again to make sure everything is correct. Additionally, you can write a message to the author of the Opportunity to clarify any potential doubts you may have or comment on a particularity. To submit your Proposal, you have to accept the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

Saving Proposals

If you don’t want to publish your Proposal once it is created, you can also save the Proposal, and finalize and submit it later. You will then find your Proposal under “Outgoing Proposals”.

Please note that you can save your Proposal and submit it later during all of the 4 steps.

Once you have submitted your proposal, it will be visible to the Opportunity team and can no longer be deleted from their dashboard.

7. It’s a Match

Once a proposal gets accepted, the creator of the proposal will receive a notification email.

Now both parties (Opportunity and Proposal teams) can contact each other through email to start their collaboration. They can find the email addresses in the accepted Proposal under Team Members.

8. Rejected Proposals

Users have also the option to “reject proposals”. Users will be notified via email, when their proposal have been rejected.
